Apparently if you drive a bit away from light pollution you can see the aurora tonight but it's probably already too late for me to head out. Aw.

Related phrase: social media backscatter, when everyone is talking *about* a breaking news item or post or something but nobody is actually referencing it directly. Happens more on bird site than on here, thankfully.

Social media interferometry: taking vague or oblique posts by two or more different connected people and using the wave pattern produced between them to try and figure out what probably just happened.

@alyx@witches.town The first half is almost entirely dramatically shot scenes of people panicking and running away, and the second is people hiding and being scared. Succeeds pretty well as an action movie but probably not much more than that.

A video just referred to 2005 War of Worlds as a 9/11 film and while I totally didn't pick up on that at the time (hey, I was a young teenager) it seems staggeringly obvious now.
