The gender saga continues...

@KawaSeadrake So apparently a drug called raloxifene can be taken with estrogen to reduce body changing effects? I don't know a ton about it but that might be a useful starting point?

@vahnj It became acceptable -- or at least typical -- when there was no moderation mechanism to stop asshats/BrandsTM from doing it :/

Unfettered global keyword searches are the number one reason I don't post publicly on bird site.

Of all Twitter's features, "strangers and brands find my posts constantly because I said a word they like" is my least favorite by FAR

I'm really, really glad that low-key seasonal rituals/offerings are a part of my life now. That do a whole lot to help me feel connected and grounded.

Marking time is important. Recognizing the changing of the seasons, the land, and the value of fellowship are important.

@vahnj i still roll with the NPR Sandwich Monday definition: "a sandwich is defined as protein between carbohydrates". It's broad.

I've also been known to ask "am I supposed to know that?" in response to certain kinds of personal information being shared.

I'm not perfect at infosec myself, certainly, but trying is important.

Whenever someone I know starts telling a story that involves sharing someone else's personal information -- medical, emotional, relationship, whatever -- I make a mental note to try not to share any of my personal stuff with them.

Trustworthiness is modeled.

Negativity, marxism, work

the most courage I've shown was when I said I'd walk rather than work the amount of overtime he wanted. So now I'm "only" doing 9h every day, as compromise. Whenever I talk politically about the eight hour work day I feel hypocritical and craven.

I can probably ask for a lot more time off than I am tbh but my boss embodies the management "strategy" of being intimidating (to me at least; gender and culture are things here), capricious, and not clearly delineating how much is actually allowed.

I'm put on a red bandana today in what was meant to be at least a tiny gesture of solidarity but I don't think anyone here even recognizes it.

People around me get to say "hey I'm taking Monday off" and it's not even a thing but for me it feels like it costs worplace capital that I have to guard jealously.

Negativity

Feels like the only reason I'm not in the streets today is because I'm selfish and not actually willing to bear costs in the name of change :/

@Eve@witches.town but @starryblush@witches.town says they're also really good.

@Eve@witches.town two more. I haven't actually had time to read them yet and they don't have an audiobook version :/

Guns

It frightens me how normalized their existence and use is. That we've just gotten used to the idea that a tool to kill someone at a distance with minimal planning and effort is a reasonable thing to be carrying around anywhere outside of a war zone.

...or, I guess, people who carry *do* think of the world as a war zone. :shudders:
