Newest tabletop rpg character: a MUCK bot that had so much emotional energy poured into it that they gained sentience and somehow instantiated into a physical body, now desperately seeking love and friendship and trying very hard to pass for a normal human teenager #Monsterhearts
Huh, now I'm wondering if anyone has written a piece comparing framings of player agency in Bioshock and in Spec Ops: The Line
Bioshock is an interesting half-example because the game mechanics (emphasizing agency and choice) are a deliberate contrast to the narrative of acting without free will.
I still kinda wonder what a polity that used Approval voting would look like longterm. Approval encourages extremely centrist candidates.
an electoral system that I *really* like but works for electing a slate of representatives instead of one winner is Single Transferable Vote
btw, in case you haven't been exposed to this idea before:
"every person gets one vote and the candidate with the most votes wins" (First Past the Post) is a terrible and undemocratic way to run elections.
Better systems let you give a ranked preference and mean you can't "waste" your vote on a third party.
(I posted this to bird site like a year ago and it fell flat despite it being maybe my best snowclone ever)
Oh hey apparently 3d printed air raid sirens are a thing.
