whenever i'm gonna be telling ppl for the first time that i use a chair, now i make sure to phrase it: "i use a wheelchair now – it's great"
bc i've noticed if i leave off the "it's great", about half the time they'll go "omg i'm so sorry for u" and then i have to explain that it's good actually
so it's much easier to proactively go "it's great", instead

Fun fact: "zeal" and "jealousy" come from the same root, Attic Greek ζῆλος. They diverged immediately afterward in Latin and took different routes to get to modern English.
(Latin picked up the "zeal" meaning as "zelus" and the "jealousy" meaning as "zelosus"; "zelus" became Old French "zel" became Middle English "zeal", while "zelosus" became Old French "jalous" became Middle English "jelous/gelus".)

(I wrote about portrayals of women and queers in the five most popular webcomics. Turns out hit webcomics have audience sizes comparable to primetime television.)
Also I still appreciate that one 300-level class for actually getting me to do legit original research before I dropped out.
Of all the classes I took in college, honestly the ones I find most useful in the "real world" were the ones on race, class, and gender in media.
I still laugh about "dunning-krugerrands" as a nickname for bitcoin.
