Somewhere along the line I managed to develop a really specific sense of my own clothing style and that's kind of cool but also it's narrow enough that I often don't actually know how to find clothing that I like, short of shotgunning thrift stores and print-on-demand websites.

There's a shitload of cool stuff on LiveHeroes but it's expensive enough that waiting for a sale is a v. good idea.

I also know there's a website that sells awesome printed leggings but can't remember what it was called? @memnus@octodon.social ?

"When I finally got tired of arguing with [my writing teacher] and decided to write a novel as if I was some kind of formulaic, genre writing drone, just to prove to her how awful it would be, I wrote the first book of the Dresden Files." -- Jim Butcher

Well that sure does explain some shit. The series sarts getting good around book 5-6 as it begins developing beyond the formula.

idk why but for some reason Mastodon makes it feel a lot easier for me to check existing replies before replying to a post.

My most-common use for this is checking what kind of emotional support (if any) a post has been eliciting so far. Which I guess is pretty on-brand for the platform :)

In a standard three-strand braid, any two given strands are unlinked except by the third strand; if you remove one strand, the second simply lies atop the third.

In this image from Wikipedia, for example, the black strand lies atop the blue strand, the blue atop the red, and the red atop the black. Removing one of the strands leaves behind two unconnected cords.

katt's pain scale

I'm really curious to see how this compares to other people's scales?

Also though it's fundamentally unquantifiable :<
Fuckin' qualia.

Also I feel like I can never actually *remember* the sensation of pain in a sensory way? I can think about the idea of it, but not the sensation itself.

GRS, Katt's pain scale

So like... when a nurse would ask how much pain I was in and I'd answer 5, that meant "the current pain management is really not sufficient and I'm distressed." Which I would then actually tell them rather than hoping the number would be sufficient

I don't know if that's how most people would use 5? They seemed to think I was underrating my pain. But like, it always felt like it could be a *lot* worse so I didn't want to claim something higher.

Katt's personal pain scale

The step from 3 to 4 is when the pain becomes impossible to ignore

4 to 5 is when addressing the pain becomes important

5 to 6 is when it becomes urgent

6 to 7 is when I start to feel I might need serious medical attention

...beyond that I don't really have mapped.

Each number there is a *significant* increase. And uhh I hope that's enough room at the top end? I don't have much experience with the top end tbh.

You know what I find really wonderful? Voice in writing.

It's so cool to me that our written language is expressive enough that each individual can have a distinctive sound irrespective of the actual content. It's cool to me that those voices are identifiable; I bet there's a number of you I could pick out of a lineup by text alone.

It's cool to me that every time I pick up a book, I need a few dozen pages to really feel out the rhythm of that particular writer.
