"At this point, you're probably thinking what I'm thinking: can you stabilize bread?"

Me having learned something from a completely silly crafting youtube video I watched months ago might be the right knowledge to help a partner complete a cool creative project for charity.

I'm having a moment of "wow I fucking love how much free knowledge is on the internet."

OUR GAYNESS SHALL BURN WITH THE LIGHT OF A MILLION SUNS.

on bird site, I once saw a vintage lesbinan flagging pin that said simply "don't die wondering". I'm finding myself thinking about that now. The sheer amount of cultural context packed into those three words is breathtaking.

Todo: have a conversation to try and figure out what separates good and bad theology.

There totally is one but I don't know how to explain it.

Anyway philosophy and theology are really cool actually, thank you for listening to my ted talk.

Asking the question "does god exist" can mean a whole range of different things depending on what's meant by "god", and depending on what's meant by the far more complicated concept "exists".

I've had frustrating chats w/ folks who presume that "exists" is a really simple binary state but uhh there's whole branches of philosophy trying to figure out what the hell "exists" means.

The question "does god exist" occurs within a philosophical framework the querant might not even fully understand.

Apparently "a shady guy in a back alley gave me a briefcase full of cash!" is NOT an adequate explanation when the police ask me where all the money came from.

An oldie but a goodie: The Case of the 500-Mile Email:

"We're having a problem sending email out of the department."

"What's the problem?" I asked.

"We can't send mail more than 500 miles," the chairman explained.

I choked on my latte. "Come again?"

"We can't send mail farther than 500 miles from here," he repeated. "A little bit more, actually. Call it 520 miles. But no farther."

It greatly amuses me that the character `⪮` is officially called "U+2AAE EQUALS SIGN WITH BUMPY ABOVE"

Apparently that line with a bump in it is called a bumpy, according to the unicode consortium!

(skims a wikipedia article on quantum field theory)

Yeah, this is way too complicated for me to shitpost about.

(carefully reads the entire wikipedia page about Homestuck)

Actually, let's give quantum field theory a second try.

I'm finally getting around to reading Thinking Fast and Slow, and even though I've already been introduced to a lot of these conclusions I find myself wanting to screencap and share about every third page.

Recommend.
