Elite Dangerous sillyness

I've taken to thinking of the Asp Explorer as the "Asp Exploder" and I can't stop giggling about that.

(I have yet to actually explode.)

the hierarchy of needs but for flavors of dysphoria.

The black swallower is a deep-sea fish.

It lives up to its name: although it only gets to about 10 inches long, its stomach and abdominal wall can be distended enormously, allowing it to eat fish 2x its length and nearly 10x its weight.

In fact, most of our black swallower specimens were found because they ate fish so large they couldn't be digested before they started to decompose, and the gases lifted the swallowers to the surface. :weirdfish:

“Gay-peg.”

Monsters say "fuck you" to standards of beauty and propriety.

Monsters are sexy and badass and don't put up with *any* bullshit.

Seriously though, women and queers identifying with monstrosity in the face of societal demonization is something I am 500% here for.

trans substantiation (🔥, ~)

wait, what? who told you i was "trapped in a man's body" like i demonically possessed some guy and then got stuck? this is no man's body, it's *mine*

i mean sure, there are aspects of it that make me want to cry (some of which i can change but most of which i can only learn to live with)

but that's not unique to my being trans, it's just that human bodies were a mistake in general

anyway, you want transhumanism? we'll show you transhumanism :trans_heart:

I'm still going on about Elite Dangerous

This system is absolutely wild.

15 brown dwarfs
3 main sequence stars (one class B)
1 neutron star
1 black hole.

Okay, black holes are *really* spooky. Just found one that's about three solar masses.

Completely invisible and absolutely *tiny*. I couldn't see anything visually until I got within about 100km (!!!) and even then the body itself was invisible. I just started unexpectedly noticed all the background stars start warping and moving from the gravitational lensing.

it's super impressive to me that free public lending libraries are like, a thing.

Awesome Chrome extension: when you view the listing for a book on Amazon or whatever, this lets you know if it's available from the local library.

don’t come at me shy about being “back on your bullshit” – life is *all about* being on your bullshit, go hard okay

@noelle Plant nerd note: There are a number of animals that use chlorophyll within their bodies, I think this funky fish is just the only one to use it (or a derivative) in order to sense light that it is also producing.
