@syka @ticky Hah. I'm looking at a Canadian shop's building service but it does require me to develop an opinion on parts.

@ticky @syka On the plus side they have a console-size mini-ITX case, which seems basically perfect for my usecase of "I just want to play games on my TV"

they're usually "if it comes overclocked out of the box, you're in for a real bad time" and "don't buy 2133MHz RAM when your CPU will downclock it to 1666MHz" and also "I will frown if there is any references to cr1tik4l or whatever on the box"

@dog @ticky I have an Alienware Alpha, it's tiny and relatively performant in the mid-range model. the HDMI input on it isn't able to record tho :(

@syka @ticky Yeah I was definitely considering an Alpha. Similar size to what I'm looking at, though the green logo on the case is a bit too gamery.

@ticky @dog the LED alienware logo is colour changeable. mine is pink and purple. I think you can turn it off too
