When Moana shipwrecks the first time, just before going beyond the reef, my 4yo daughter whispered, "Her dad was right."
When we took a break for dinner, I told her, "Moana's dad told her not to go beyond the reef because he loves her and wants to keep her safe, right?"
"Yeah."
"But Moana wants to try new things, and that's okay. So if YOU ever want to try new things, tell me and I'll listen. I'll help you. I want you to be safe, but I also want you to be happy."
Moana Spoilers
@thethinktanker he was only right because he didn't give Moana the tools to thrive at what she wanted to do most in the world. Your daughter obviously trusts you and the things you say, she likely didn't understand why Moana would willingly do something her father was so clearly against, and hopefully understood that the people she trusts and loves would give her sound advice that was in her best interest. You are a good dad if she trusts you so much. 🌺💖
