software suggestion
@codl have you considered something like cockatrice?
i know quite a few people who play mtg using that, and it's oss! it downloads all the cardstocks, and you can make decks out of any of them too
the downside is that it doesn't very explicitly enforce any rules, it's more of a tabletop sim that specifically allows a few variations of magic to be played pretty easily
(cw'd because software suggestions can be super-obnoxious, and sorry in advance)
re software suggestion
@codl yeaaah, that's part of why i figured i'd mention the caveats
i don't really have any other ideas that aren't extremely annoying to set up, but i figured that if this did do what you were hoping, that i could save you some headache
re software suggestion
@thingywott mm yeah i considered also just using tabletop sim but the problem with these solutions is that
1) they don't have a proper on-ramp for new players like me
2) i have to actively seek out players who are also using this non-standard way to play
