it's really neat opening level files for old games in hex editors
a lot of the time, they are just 2d arrays just dumped right into a file, so you can see the shapes of the levels if you adjust the width of the wrapping!
like, here's the first level of duke nukum 1 in HxD next to what it looks like in-game!

i pulled out fl studio really briefly and just made an extremely quick tune that's pretty much 100% this progression in a few different forms layered on top of each other
...which turned out to be a pretty neat experiment!
this is using a cpu emulator, of course, but its cpu usage really isn't too bad for being actual dwarf fortress in box64 inside a proot
