@cinnamon since you're already using cloudflare, you could set up a web worker to resize your images when you link to them a certain way

it's a little less simple to set up, but that way you wouldn't need to manually resize everything whenever you upload something new (though if you do decide on doing that, i agree imagemagick is really good!)

absolutely exhausted in theory

i'm definitely not complaining about the accuracy of my hypothesis though

oh hey #dev nerds

black socialists in america is working to design a better online meeting platform and could use help with money but also coding!

@bx i feel like the venn diagram of the people who want that and the people who exist is a circle

i'm not sure how i typoed "!timefor" as "!timefox", but i want to thank the ether for blessing me with that idea

@josh qud has some absolutely wild systems, and it always amazes me how those all mange to come together into an actually-good-game with a nearly infinite number of ways to creatively biff it

like, i once posted this picture in a kink-positive chat: awoo.space/@thingywott/1037782

and someone who wasn't an abdl said i looked stylish as heck??

nothing could have made me feel better then that, hahah

why is the best compliment someone can give when they see you in a diaper "they suit you!"?

i guess i feel like others look great in diapers! but even though i wear them, i'm still a little self-conscious that i look bad, and that compliment is just really reassuring!

like, what makes me feel comfy and cozy is also natural to others who know! and that it's not just acceptance on their part--but also positive thoughts??

@cinnamon hee, it's fun because sunbeams through windows are still really warm!

but they don't do much when you're actually outside

i went to work today in a kigurumi, it's super-fun wearing them out!

i even high fived someone on the way back~

re: politics sorta, doomposting-adjacent

@cinnamon (it's true that privilege comes into account here, but pessimism can limit you on top of that too--especially on a mental-energy front, which i feel we all could use a little more of)

re: politics sorta, doomposting-adjacent

@cinnamon oh! one other really important thing optimism does is it helps embolden you to do things that actually can change the way the world around you works~

very seldomly so these sorts of transformative actions have a level of certainty that someone who is pessimistic would be comfortable with, but they can be so, so important in creating the best circumstances for you and those you care about

for example, a lot of pessimists get trapped in horrible workplaces, even when they have opportunities, because what if their next job is worse?

moving, transitioning, going to places they've never been--a lot of pessimism robs people of their willingness to change their circumstances in important ways, and it's very hard to overcome those mental blocks with their pessimism still intact (though thankfully, not impossible!)

re: politics sorta, doomposting-adjacent

@cinnamon i also feel like viewing optimism as an inherently misguided mental model is a practice that contributes to this too!

it's gotten to the point where even though it's wrong more often than it's right, pessimism is commonly accepted as "more realistic", because it's more natural to remember the bad things and ignore the good than vice versa

after all, it hurts less to expect the worst and be right than it is to have hope and be wrong, so it's totally understandable why it's more common, especially in circles who had it rough with the status quo to begin with

but even if it's a pretty common point of view, good things still do happen pretty often! and it's really actually pretty wonderful to cognizantly take notice of them rather than dismiss them as a fluke

optimism is hard to justify when you're not used to it, but i feel like most people would give it more credit when they realize how often pessimism takes so much mental energy; only to be wrong--and how that extra energy can help you roll with the punches when optimism ends up being wrong

it's a much happier outlook that a lot of people might not realize they can actually vibe with! and it really does look like more leftist circles are starting to realize this~

@cinnamon ooh! it's always awesome to find identity things you feel comfy with~

for realsies though, this article (and the roguelike radio episode linked in it) kick so much ass

i initially got curious when i learned that there's a community of low-sight and blind roguelike players who can play these games with a screen reader

one of the more popular roguelikes, dungeon crawl: stone soup was a popular choice because of a lot of the accessibility features and tweaks made to streamline the game

and upon learning this, the crawl devs were both surprised, but also apparently started thinking of other ways to improve playability with screen readers

it really does shine a pretty massive spotlight on the things that still aren't very accessible though

imo it's a worthwhile experience for even just that awareness, but also like...it's also really cool!

plus, if more people tried this, maybe more things would become more accessible by default
