bitching about computers

is it possible that the fragility and insecurity of our computing systems are due to an overemphasis on speed and other features that result in complicated components that are hard to analyze and often poorly understood in a whole-system context?

oh, sorry, i see your eyes glazed over at "overemphasis on speed". anyway, have you tried turning it off and then back on again?

@typhlosion oooooh yep. Computers are fast and cheap. It's what the market likes.

@typhlosion tbh I’d be okay with for example, my keybord being slower to type if it actually was easier to hit the keys.

Or had adaptive learning for keystrokes.

Bc I’ll take my adhd being annoyed at slow over having to correct everything bc dyspraxia coordinations isdues.

bitching about computers

@typhlosion also. A blocky tablet that isn’t ‘pretty’ or ‘fast’
But is tough as hell would again, be great for a guy with coordination issues who has to slug it around in his bag all day.

No, please, tell me more about how the popular approach to technical development is fundamentally unsustainable and built on flawed thinking about "advancement" and tech markets~
