national butterfly center, us wall, cynicism
so a nature preserve and butterfly sanctuary in texas is under threat of having the fucking border wall built through it, against its will
a challenge to the construction was rejected by scotus because of course, let the govt ignore its own laws, right
the carrizo/comecrudo tribe is protesting because that's definitely gonna work
guys, im so tired... happiness and hope are getting hard to find, and it feels like nothing i can do will have any effect
bitter cynicism (uspol)
in the past, all i've ever really cared about is people. i want my friends to be happy. i want good-faith humanity to survive. but there's been so much bad news lately, and many of my friends have been having so much trouble just existing... and the culprit is this web of big abstract interconnected evils, the skeleton and nervous system of moloch, and i don't know if it can be impaired without just regenerating.
can't help feeling like the writing is already on the wall.

@typhlosion I understand the sentiment. :/ Regulatory capture is a hell of a thing and it's been brewing for quite some time. We can have an effect. This was just ignored for too long on so many levels; it's now coming to a head.

@typhlosion Yea, this is very relatable. I'm having an increasingly hard time seeing an "easy" or even like, any not completely catastrophic way to change course and get things even back to how they used to be, let alone into a better place =/
That's kinda confusingly worded, so I guess what I'm getting at is just like, I hear you, and empathy, sympathy.
national butterfly center, us wall, cynicism
@typhlosion Indeed, a lot of things really suck right now.
If it helps, though:
1) I’m not sure it was ever much better; we’re just seeing the bad stuff more clearly because it is being done more blatantly in a more pervasive media environment.
2) More and more people are concluding that things are not okay, finding that they are not alone in thinking this, and looking for ways to make change.
re: national butterfly center, us wall, cynicism
@typhlosion One of the big things going against a border wall has always been "it will fuck with the natural world" and of course, this government's attitude towards the natural world was "screw it if it's not making oil for us." I hate these bastards. I hope whoever winds up coming after them is more than a little like *Theodore* Roosevelt as well as like Franklin.
bitter cynicism (uspol)
when every corporation isn't actively trying to kill or brainwash you, it's trying to cheat you out of your money, time, and agency in every possible way
the rise of outward hate is deemed profitable and carefully nourished and marketed to
if you want to do something about it, the increasingly heavily armed cops are here to keep you in line
the government benefits from all this in a pretty similar way
what can we even do about any of this without incredible bloodshed?
