hey i know i asked this before but i forgot what everyone said. does anyone have recommendations for a good portable cassette player purchasable in 2023 without breaking the bank?
@konomikitten how available are older tape players that dont suck then
@typhlosion I have no clue past that bit of information, hopefully others will. 
@typhlosion My only advice would be stay away from anything manufactured in recent years… the mechanism is low quality and has a ton of wobble. Honestly your best option might be to find a well priced old unit on ebay but I don’t really have any specific recommendations, I haven’t looked a lot into that
@typhlosion get something used, replace the belts, hope it doesn't suck. There's direct drive walkmans but you need to replace a cog on those, they all crack
@typhlosion from what I've had explained to me it's not possible to get a new good tape player.
There's apparently only one company that produces the mechanical mechanism (and the electrical parts like the heads) at the moment and the quality of said part according to the community is terrible.
So no matter what you buy if it's new it's going to suck.
