@fluffy@queer.party @Patashu @CurusKeel @Felthry sorry. im just kinda... it feels weird when i want to make something as a fun project and someone kinda goes "why do that when you can use this thing that already exists"
@fluffy@queer.party @Patashu @CurusKeel @Felthry sigh

begpost, family situation, not too urgent
I'm currently trying to collect enough money so when Covid is over and we can finally travel again I can move out of here and move in with my partner to get out of this family situation I'm currently in where I don't feel really welcome nor safe here. It's going to take quite a bit of money for us to be able to do it so any sent at all will be to much help and will be appreciated.

Clickspring context
In January 2017, Clickspring started a new series demonstrating the reconstruction of the Antikythera Mechanism, an ancient astronomical mechanical calculator - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZioPDnFPNsHnyxfygxA0to4RXv4_jDU2 - accompanied by a side series on some of the technological speculations of its manufacture - https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZioPDnFPNsGnUXuZScwn6Ackf6LGILCa
It's been a really enjoyable series, showing off a great deal of careful work and analysis, and we've been quite interested in the work.
In October 2018, Episode 9 of the series aired ... and then nothing for two years. Because, as Clickspring has now confirmed, in the course of making a CAD model of the wreckage to base the reconstruction off of, he found a discrepancy with the common assumptions of a hundred years ago about its nature ... an assumption which has turned into an entire research collaboration and two academic papers.
Which is extremely exciting for both people interested in the mechanism and in Clickspring's excellent videos, because the papers are being published now and the mechanism is resuming construction.
@fluffy@queer.party @Patashu okay fair. was just curious how like, that kind of thing is done on a high level
@Patashu @fluffy@queer.party how do you do up right down left without turning yourself around physically on the pad or using the same foot twice in a row
@Felthry @NovaSquirrel ?: looks like an emoticon expressing bemused concern at your overuse of the ternary operator
here's something that the dolphin emulator has that every fucking program that does automatic updates should copy immediately:
when it checks for updates and asks if you'd like to install the latest version, you can check a box to say "yes, but only after this session"
you can do whatever you were about to do without waiting, and when you close it, it does the update and you get the cool new stuff next time you're going to play
