Hi friends!
I didn't announce it very well but we don't require anyone to block anyone else any more thanks to an improvement to our home timeline I made.
Cheers!
@vahnj What is the change, exactly?
@Felthry remote conversations between people you follow & people who are suspended (ie. domain blocked/not on our whitelist) will no longer show up in your home timeline, period
except when someone replies to themselves in the thread, which has been a bug on masto for a long time
@vahnj oh, that's good. I had noticed some replies weren't showing up, I assumed it was something like you won't see people's replies to people you don't follow or something (which would be a good feature, honestly, maybe optional so people can still use that to find friends-of-friends??)
@Felthry the way it works is this:
1. you won't see private replies from a person you follow to a person you don't follow (the original usecase)
2. you won't see private replies from a person you follow to a person who is domain suspended (the new use case)
if that makes sense
@vahnj Honestly I'm not sure that isn't a thing that is happening. I just read part of a conversation between two people I do follow and then discovered that there was more of the conversation after someone else (who I don't follow) joined in I didn't see it until for some reason I did when someone else I follow said a thing again??? This is weird, but I am not going to try to figure it out right now, and you don't need to try to figure it out either, I don't want to cause you stress or anything
@Felthry it's not stress to talk to me about technical stuff
If you want to take screen shots and post them that would be great
@Felthry or maybe dm them to me so you're not posting peoples conversations publicly lol
However, there is a bug that impacts this, so we probably won't be adding any more until I can fix it.
It's a bug that's been around forever and I'm working with the masto dev community to address it.
