thoughts on being queer
as far as being a measurement of "how much" it goes into, i don't think of queer as a term that cares about magnitude- it's an umbrella term i want to stand behind with folks to stand up and be proud of all of us together
I don't know of a better way to do that- and even if someone doesn't identify with being queer I still want to feel a sense of unity with them regardless of the term
LGBT+/QUILTBAG/is too much for me and this is the best I feel I have
thoughts on being queer
if you ever see me saying I'm queer- it's a statement of me telling you I am with all of you, regardless of if you're gay, trans, bi, agender, asexual, a lesbian, demisexual/gender, multi-gender, whatever
i want us to stick together
that doesn't mean we have to get along- but it means that when it comes down to it, we have each others' backs
thanks

@vahnj It's kind of odd because queer was originally a self-descriptor from what I've heard, then TERF-ish sort of people tried to 'declaim' it and so a lot of people now consider it a slur to be reclaimed and a lot of people don't so ????
thoughts on being queer
@Felthry when I used to think about it, I thought about the term, "there's only two types from Texas- steers and queers"
It was always sold as a pejorative to me, and eff that noise, I'm queer as fuck now
thoughts on being queer
it also doesn't preclude you being other things, more so than queer itself- I look at queer as us, the group, more so than I look at it as me, the identity
i don't know how to approach the harm it's done to folks but- in my opinion reclaiming it is a part of putting harm behind oneself is an important part to destroying the grip that a homogenized society has had on us
