I don't think I agree with her that the main character is lovable, he's an oafish ass.

He does have a lot of humanizing moments that go, "hey look, this guy is fallible and he is at least trying, so cut him a little slack" but I don't think it's enough for him to be lovable in my book

At least he has some hella good & relatable quotes

It's okay to enjoy problematic material, but it's important to understand why it's problematic. It's not enough to just to say "it's flawed." It's got some pretty serious problems that can't easily be glossed over.
