assassin's creed hot take
the story, most characters, and almost all of the side quests are compelling and good
assassin's creed spoilers, suicide mention
there is a fantastic scene where Bayek talks a woman down from a ledge and helps her gain the will to move on
it was almost perfect. there was a leopard ambush that ruined the emotional labor aspect bc she goes "oh i guess i am afraid of death" and kinda brushes away whether the lady was depressed or not, but before then that whole thing had me nearly crying cuz it was really well done

@vahnj I dunno, that's a rather nuclear take.
I always felt that the games felt really... hamfisted about a lot of things. But I played through 1, 2 and brotherhood (omg that multiplayer) and enjoyed the time of it.

@Draekos sorry - I meant in the new game, only

@Draekos Assassin's Creed Origins is just blowing me out of the water
assassin's creed hot take
@Draekos I'm with you on the other games
assassin's creed hot take
@vahnj I really liked 1, Ezio killed the franchise for me.... may dip into them again some day.
assassin's creed hot take
@Draekos Ezio had his moments but he was very boring for being the character that so much of the series ended up focusing on
and yeah I really liked 1 too. Origins has far exceeded it with Bayek's story
assassin's creed hot take
@vahnj @Draekos I was about to say something along the lines of "I never played any of them but I saw a bit of one that my cousin was playing a couple years ago and couldn't get past the weird pseudoscience nonsense" but then I saw you're talking about this one in particular so I dunno why I'm even still saying this
assassin's creed spoilers
all the themes of the game, how family is explored in the game, how depression, loss, anger, emotional labor
it sets up with very clear Evil People but spends so much time exploring like what dealing the realistic consequences of those evils are more so than a lot of other games
it's not some high fantasy grandiose quest, it's one dude fighting to avenge his son, come to terms with his death, and stop other families from being broken apart like his
