What if the (4,8)channers are deliberately trying to persuade the left that AS MANY THINGS AS POSSIBLE are right-wing dogwhistles, from the OK sign to all ten digits, as a willful attempt to culture-jam us into total paralysis?
Mind you, the following sentence is the weakest possible evidence and should never be taken as proof of ANYTHING, but... "I wouldn't put it past them." (I mean, seriously, that's precisely what the OK sign thing is—they've openly TOLD us as much. And yet we still keep walking right into it.)
And if that's not what they're doing... should we maybe be trying to do it to them? 😈(Honestly, I fear they might actually be too far ahead of us on the Meme Warfare tech tree. We gotta up our game.)

@chimerror @zebratron2084 I feel this. Like, even if it was a genuine attempt at a dogwhistle? The whole point of those is to be recognizable to the target audience, and nobody else. If you find yourself *actively* doing fuzzy mathematics to check if something could *potentially* be a dogwhistle or not, you're just playing into their hands at that point by helping drive others into paranoia.

I. . . I kinda thought that was the whole point, honestly.
I think I've spent more time arguing with friends about frogs and anime avatars than arguing with actual fascists. The insidious thing is, this whole situations sets them up so that /they don't have to do the work/. Unassuming people will jump to their defense instead.
Once, a long time ago, back in the SA days, I mused to myself that the internet was essentially boiling down to a war of /context/ over content. Because context shapes content and its interpretation.
It's turned out to be more true than I care to admit.

@zebratron2084 this is kind of what I feel with the recent posts suggesting that the numbers in the feral hog meme add up to 80 and 8 which makes 88. Like it's possible, but it's more likely those were just random numbers.
but in general, chuds are not that smart or clever.
