THE RULES OF FAN THEORY:
1) All creators are omniscient about anything related to their work.
2) The showrunner oversees all production personally, even props & background art.
3) A director will always choose "paying off" an easter egg over drama, characterization, or realism.
4) Every single aspect of a show is meticulously planned and wholly deliberate.
5) Making shows is easy & inexpensive. Nobody ever does something just because it's simpler or cheaper.
6) Characters exist and act independently even when not on screen.
7) All media symbolism operates on a strict 1:1 ratio. Each symbol signifies precisely one thing, which is consciously chosen by the creator and can be correctly and finally determined by a close examination of the "clues."
8) Nothing is ever random. Creators never script anything, ever, unless they are absolutely certain of its full thematic and plot significance.
9) It's all about you.

@JulieSqveakaroo @zebratron2084 I too am torn between curiosity and figuring I'm better off not knowing.
re: media; snark
@JulieSqveakaroo It's been building for a loooong time, although my encounter with the Only Murders in the Building fanbase suuuure accelerated it.
re: media; snark
@zebratron2084... oh jeez...
re: media; snark
@zebratron2084 10) Creators never lie or have their characters say untrue things.
Not that I would ever do that in anything I do... ;)
re: media; snark
12) Intellectual property is the alpha and the omega; it is of itself and is not the work of one or more people who created it in the first place. Talent are but vessels who express the IP, they do not mold or contribute to IP. This is why corporations, being not of people, are the best captains of IP.
13) The IP is always good. If there's IP we don't like, it's the talent's fault for expressing the IP incorrectly, and they should be punished or cancelled accordingly. IP itself is beyond criticism.

@zebratron2084 @zx3 It took me a minute to catch that it was Takoma and not Tacoma - for a little while there I thought you were alluding to Tacoma trying to annex Seattle in order to take primacy in the state of WA again.

you know it's funny, there was at least one Japanese show where I know the creator said in the dvd commentary that the whole reason a certain episode existed was because he had a script due in 2 hours and had no ideas and this was the best stall he could come up with on the train into work

@001zlnv YES YES YES EXACTLY
