Oh my god.
One-shot tabletop RPG where all the characters are International Plushies Of Mystery working for totally different interests.
And each one has a magical McGuffin sewed into them that they're trying to transport in secret. (One has a plush TF bomb... one has a tiny mouse diplomat with an oxygen tank sewn in with them... one has a high-powered radio transmitter that's performing a nearly successful SETI scan... one just glows mysteriously when they open their mouth, and so forth...)
@zebratron2084 I have a story fragment somewhere that'd work here in different ways:
make the antagonists to the plushies be plastic action figures, all hard angles and gendered content and story-constrained play (GI Joe, Transformers, Barbie). Plushies would be nonbinary agender rebels. :-P
All of it taking place in some kind of Lisa Frank rainbow-nightmare dystopia, basically Cold-War Care Bears, if Care-A-Lot were a lot like 1950s Vienna, teeming with candy-faced assassins and glittery noir tragedy. Some reality shift at the bottom of it has brought Real-World Consequences to the magical realms. Some still cling to the Old Ways-- some crazy cultists even propose bringing another goddamn Megan, as they call us, into their world...
