Does anybody else develop fleeing emotional attachments to individual letters when they're typing? Once in a while when I'm editing a document, I'll get this compulsion to spare as many already-typed letters as possible in the process. e.g., If I'm changing "bringing" to "brought," sometimes I'll try to keep the old "br" and one "g" intact (I know, it's Sophie's Choice :( ). Otherwise I'll feel a bit guilty, like I've betrayed those letters' trust somehow.

@zebratron2084 Depends entirely on the system. On slow editors (two nested virtual machines trying to write code) I'll use the optimal sequence of vim escape, movement, and in-place editing strokes to turn some words into others, and I'll get quite fussy and spend huge amounts of time optimizing small transformations as though that were a better use of my time than migrating to the new laptop they bought for me at work that doesn't require such shenanigans.
