Weird gaming linguistics question:
Is there any jargon term for "the points effectively wasted when a bar/stat is refilled past its maximum?"
E.g., you have 45/50 HP and heal for 15. You are at 50/50 HP, gaining 5, and 10 points of heal effectively fizzle. You got 10 points of __________.
If there's no existing term, I'd probably go with "overheal" in that context, but what do gamers actually SAY, if anything?
@zebratron2084 Overheal was the only thing I thought of, too. :\
@zebratron2084 in WoW it's referred to as "overheal," and Serious Raiders (lolololooooollll) track it Very Seriously because overheal is Wasting Mana and therefore BADSAUCE.
in D&D they can sometimes "roll over" and become "temporary hit points"--raising your HP total from 45 to 50, until you get hit for 7 points of damage, then your HP total is back to 45 but you're only down 2 points instead of 7. temporary HP usually wear off if you sleep or rest, or at the end of the spell duration.
@zebratron2084 I heard Overheal used back in the WoW days, so that's probably the thing that's used. Or at least was four or five years back.
