Oh. Suicidal ideation, its just you. I thought I made it very clear I can't accept your offe... What's that? You say that this isn't about you, you just brought an old friend by. Hmm. OK. I'll let you both in.
Oh, hey, Ennui, how have you been! What you got there. some kind of game controller? Would I like to play Nuclear Throne for six straight hours so I don't have to feel things, you say?
Huh. You know what, I think I would. Thanks, guys, you've always been there when I needed ya.
Mood snapshot. Feeling a little invisible today.

Just whacked a transphobe with it on Twitter and wanted to share. It's my current weapon of choice, my trusty

Yes,
is a numeral now.
This cafe is playing Jacques Fuckin' Dutronc. After a binge of Talking Heads and Ramones. OK, I think I've found my home.

Also, I ran into our neighbor's teenaged kid. I mentioned that Umbra was still missing, and he just kinda said, "Yup." He was surprised the new litter's stuck around as long as they have, and that Sugarfoot's stuck around at all. This is apparently quite normal to him, and while I STAUNCHLY disagree, I don't he's the kind of kid who would callously send a cat off to certain or likely death. This is what people do around here, and I don't like it, but it makes me worry less.

Several false alarms on the walk home from cafe. One of them REALLY got my hopes up, a real friendly little black kitty in damn near the same spot we lost track of Umbra—but they had big white footy markings and I just stooped and petted 'em and sang o/` You are not my cat but you're a good cat!! o/`
I also saw 3 more kitties on the way, for a total of 3 kitties without collars and one outdoor cat with nothing but a ribbon, all of which were plump & happy. Umbra should be OK.

@woozle @hummingrain @anthracite Feel free! Mars is a Free Culture planet and as for us raccoons... well, if you can pull it from someone's paws, it wasn't really their property. 😽

Oh no. It's worse than I thought. They're discussing playing the "tell us two truths and a lie about yourself" game at a social event.
They are gonna be slaughtered by a supernatural serial killer for sure. I am getting the fuck out of here.

(Actually, they're sounding scarily mature, organized, and practical compared to how I was when I was their age. But still... those names...)

I am sitting next to two young women named Brittany and Jessica, who are discussing sorority sisters of theirs named Brenda and Heather, and who they will be backing in an upcoming "social council" vote.
I don't want to judge them and they seem like perfectly kind, thoughtful people. I am just a product of my generation and am thus terrified I'm going to get roped somehow into a skiing competition against them to save an orphanage.

very mild body horror
in other news this is the sort of place i live here now
honestly this feels like a pretty good day to abandon the old flesh and become a purely media signal
nothin but the Raccoon Network
political rants, half-remembered eddie izzard references, and perverted fantasies about talking plastic animals
airing 24/7 in the new bioplastic growth in your forebrain

@Austin_Dern I mean, if he's out there somewhere having a Good Stray Kitty Life, that's a happy ending. And that seems very possible in New Orleans.
I'm just in shock that he wandered way so soon after I bonded with him—and still feeling guilty that he disappeared right after chasing us a couple blocks away from home, then disappearing into a place where we couldn't get to him. I'm accepting that for an uncollared outdoor cat like him, it was just a matter of time. :(

And if he ever returns, he will be Umbra The Bold and I am gonna curtly inform our neighbor that he is OURS now and I'm gonna put a collar, GPS tracker, and possibly a Mad Science satellite uplink on him, connected to an AI that will incinerate anything that tries to hurt him.
And if he does not, I'm gonna give him a hell of a flattering Parallax cameo because I don't know what else to do for the little guy and if I don't do anything at all I'm gonna cry.

I am trying to see it in my heart that my neighbor lives differently than me, in different economic and cultural world, and this is normal to them.
I am still holding onto a shred of hope that a five-month old cat who's used to the outdoors can fend for himself, and we might even see him about someday. But I gotta move on.
And I guess I will be more careful about bonding with the remaining cats. And someday Peg and I will have a cat who is OURS and will be cared for properly
