@JulieSqveakaroo Dammit, roo, now I want to see a Mario RPG that's just 24 perfecty ordinary hours in the Mushroom Kingdom. and Mario just goes around doing all his errands. But he does it all in a very Mario kind of way... Mariokarting to pick Bowser's kids up from school and whatnot.

the freakin' cats :)

@Orb2069 Not so much as cats have become fascinated with us, and being the sensible person I am, I gave into the prevailing winds. :)

Basically, @anthracite and I moved down to New Orleans and our neighbor had been feeding the local strays and taking them in when they had kittens.

We helped her feed them a little, and... I mean, they're cute as fuck, so of course we pet them and let them invade our house a little!

And then our neighbor moved away suddenly and we were stuck caring for the whole clan of six... and then one of them dropped two kittens on us... and then one of them dropped three MORE that she refused to raise...

So yeah. We had to learn a lot about cats real fast. :) Fortunately, there's a happy ending: all the babies have been adopted out and all the adults have been spayed/neutered.

So now we just have six cats. *crooked, disordered, frazzled smile* :}

The funniest part about all this is that we were joking about Peg casting some kind of spell when we got down here to attract The Perfect Pet Cat, preferably black of course because she's witchy.

And now we've helped raise a total of SEVEN black cats. She never even got around to casting the freakin' spell. We can only assume someone leaked the information on the Cat Internet. :)

@Orb2069 Hi BTW. Long time!

cats, mood, the past and trauma and stuff (~)

sugarfoot is inspiring because she can do stuff like bite us and knock our shit over and still be a good kitty

she gives me hope that maybe i can be a good kitty too someday despite all the people i've mauled and all the stuff i've broken in the pursuit of whatever the fuck this is right here ;_;

i too just wanted a petting and a warm place to curl up :( i got those now. most days, but sometimes it still bubbles up what an agonizing illusion of such That Damned House In Northgate could be -- and how much my flaws and inability to own my temper and other brain divots contributed to it.

re: kitten pic! (+++)

@monsterblue And I think their fur is mostly to be credited to their mom (pictured) and grandma! They really make some top-quality cats, although "sadly' thanks to some local volunteer vets, the whole line has been discontinued. Our neighbor is very lucky to get this exclusive and now rare model of cat. :)

re: kitten pic! (+++)

@monsterblue Thank you! I don't know if it's actually true since we felt every day like we had no CLUE what we were doing, but they lived and seemed happy and knew where to poop -- and their new Human Friend seems SUPER NICE -- so I guess we did okay. Glad it's over, honestly but I'm gonna miss the little guys. n.n

media stuff absolutely nobody but me will care about

Holy fuck, Forrest MacNeil's dad in Review is Wojo from Barney Miller. I would have never recognized him.

kitten pic! (+++)

We just got this from Liv and Snowy's new Human Friend. Yeah, I think they're gonna be just fine. :D

absolute shitpost, nonsense, zero content, uspol adjacent?

eat a football for jesus

"important" cat "update"

With Liv and Snowy promoted to the Big Leagues, Sugarfoot is now only in a six-way tie for Best Kitty. Competition is heating up, folks, and rumor has it that Shemp is planning a day-long nap AND eating some kibble in a chancy bid to pull ahead...

cat scat; re: cats (~)

@Sig I have to say: those kids turned out to be litterbox PRODIGIES. They had a little trouble with accuracy and burying stuff, but they passed Poop 101 pretty early on for kittens...

re: cats (~)

@Sig I'm so freaking relieved, honestly. It really felt like we were raising those kittens by the seats of our pants some days. I remember how DESPERATELY worried I was that they'd choke on a random bit of trash or fall six inches and hurt themselves or something... but nope, they just bumbled around for three weeks and suddenly they were cats. :) I'm so grateful to Sugarfoot and the kids for mostly raising themselves...

mh (++?!)

Just sat here looking at that recent pic of Sugar, Snow, and Liv standing on an LGBT flag and had this weird wave of satisfaction at how we're all living our lives.

I didn't have nearly the impact on furry fandom, let alone the world, that I hoped I would. But I was and still am a footsoldier in the war to keep our culture weird, humane, and otherworldly and I'm just so proud of how well it's all worked.

Now that there's a glimmer of hope we're gonna win the political struggle, maybe I'm finally able to appreciate the cultural struggle, and all the beautifully strange things we've all made in this ugly ugly world.

I spend my day with coyotes and genies and balloon people and robots. I could not be happier about this, especially given I could have very easily wound up an accountant or something -- some poor bastard with one name and one identity, Mark Zuckerberg's perfect consumer done.

But nope, I'm a giant fucking cat from Mars and it's a good day to roar extra loud.

Sugarfoot is adjusting relatively well to the kittens having moved on. She's patroled the apartment a couple of times and made a few sad mews, but has taken consolatory pettings relatively well and is about to have a snooze on the arm of the couch. I keep telling her she did a great job as mama and should be nothing but proud -- 'cause she did and she should.

re: drama (but not that kind), comedy

Apparently these plays are deliberately loaded with internal inconsistencies and irreconcilable statements and you have to carefully compare dialogue from scene to scene to catch it all. I think I am in love.

Show thread

drama (but not that kind), comedy

I'm watching an old BBC adaptation of Harold Pinter's "The Birthday Party." It's my first Pinter play, and though I was already familiar with him and what he meant, it's really stark now that like 90% of my favorite comedy is descended directly from this "comedy of menace." I love dystopias and paranoid conspiracies and existential breakdowns and whatnot. Wham City stole their whole shtick from this guy -- hell, so did David Lynch -- and I wish I knew who else does so I can give them my money.

Limbo spoiler

@hystericempress I thought it was admirably bold of them to have that ultra-abrupt and fraught ending. I can see how some people could be very fulfilled by a game like this. Personally, I... it just gave me Seattle-climate flashbacks. No thanks. ;)

@hystericempress I'm all of 30 seconds into a playthrough and I'm already getting terminal Lonely Death of Got-No-Legs Boy vibes out of it...
