@xinjinmeng @anthracite That's one of my favorite lines. Never met a Futurama math joke I didn't like.

@anthracite I kinda love this. Just needs some Joe Raposo jazz vocals in the background...

mh (-) but mh (+)

Meh, I just barfed up a big old formless hairball of sadness a moment ago. Things are getting to me.

Things are actually kinda decent for me right now. It's all anticipating things that _could_ happen, and all that time I've wasted waiting for them.

Anyhow, it's got me reflecting on just what a weird life I've lived and what a surprising amount of it did pay off. Thanks for being here. Whatever all this comes to, the people (and quasipeople) I've met have been the best part.

bad habits, foodcrime, 2020 issues

Broke down and ordered 12 am comfort food. I have no business spending this much money on delivery nor piling on more calories, but dammit, stoned late-night impulse delivery food may be the very last thing connecting my soul to civilization.

It means that little bit longer until I can pay for a bunch of things that need paying for. But it also means that little bit longer until I go feral and start ambushing local bar patrons for crawfish.

FWIW, I got shrimp, wings, a salad with gyro meat, pita bread, and a meze (Mediterranean dips, basically) sampler. Could have done a lot more damage!

i suspect the books have not aged well at all but i was thinking, you know who we could really use right now?

mike callahan from spider robinson's callahan's crosstime saloon books

i would fucking kill for a callahan's franchise in the area right now, rea or virtual

i tried once, i really did, sorry guys

@Sig you're just someone i don't want to piss off because (1) we've been friends for a long time and (2) i have suspicions about what you're secretly capable of XD XD XD <3

Quick question: if I were to switch from uspol rants to exclusively talking about pop culture I like for a week, would that be a net reward or a net punishment? I still feel a bit badly about stressing a few people out with my reaction to the [CENSORED USPOL] stuff...

@zx3 That's not Roko's Basilisk, though. That's just a rousing good time. <3

uspol, snark, silly

current mood: looking up the exact definition of the word "sedition" so i can make sure i'm doing it correctly

re: uspol, addendum, slightly less negative

@Sig I mean, it's RRRREAL easy to do these days, I've certainly opened doors I shouldn't. *hug* I'm still real sorry you walked into that at such a rough moment.

uspol (mild +), some speculation

An attempt at some GOOD news: keep in mind that Biden is still favored 7-2 to win according to FiveThirtyEight.

Remember, that's the *skeptical* poll analyst, the one who correctly gave Trump a shot in 2016. The other forecasts I trust are much higher. For example, the Economist has Biden at around 13-2.

Some of these state races are starting to look like knuckle-biters. But every damn analysis of our DOOMED DOOMED DOOMED prospects seems to reject the fact that we're way ahead in a fair election.

Now, here's where it gets speculative. I don't think it's going to be a fair election. But most of the articles I've read about foreign interference have been about Russian propaganda -- something we're *already* seeing the effects of, yet Biden is still way ahead.

I am still scared about the effects of voter suppression -- but that's something that can be countered with an angry determined electorate, and it looks like we're gonna get just that.

There's a REASON people like McConnell and Graham are willing to risk blazing public criticism to pull this SCOTUS pick off. It's because - as I've pointed out to dozens of Trumpies insisting we're gonna get steamrollered -- they're not at all confident that they're going to get a second chance.

re: uspol, addendum, slightly less negative

@Sig Yeah. *hug* That's the most important thing.

It is probably not the *most* mature or productive response for me to have gone, "Huh, I wonder just what level of sedition and assassination threats it would take to get me kicked off of Twitter for good" for example. O:)

But I don't think I really have an emotional Plan B right now.

re: uspol, addendum, slightly less negative

@Sig I hate to say it, but... isn't that kinda what CWs are for? Do we really have to put more warning signs in front of the button that says "PRESS THIS TO GET KICKED IN THE FACE BY A HORSE?" XD <3

re: uspol, addendum, slightly less negative

@Sig I'm... kinda sorry-not-sorry about my role in that? Sorry in that I genuinely should have thought of that and never want to upset my friends, not sorry in that it was all CW'd properly and I'd probably say it all again. perhaps a bit more tactfully. I'd been subjected to hours of people saying "this is it, we're fucked, let's give up" and I just... I can't and I won't stay silent in the face of that.
