I just had the most boomer-ass discussion problem with @zebratron2084 overc whether or not me feeling that “Let it Be” is probably my third least favorite Beatles albums is grounds for a breakup. Once we looked up the track list it was over though. There’s one halfway banger on there and the rest is just music for dentist’s waiting rooms.

overwhelmed by work and the never-ending cat drama (current plotline: we have a human squatter next door and now HE'S accidentally trapping artie up there semi-daily)

mostly hiding out on discord, kinda happy to be away from anything resembling twitter tbh, mostly just been at the edge of depression and playing a lot, lot, lot of slay the spire, nova drift, and civ 6

peg and i have been a little squabbly and stressed but we're otherwise good, fought a little the other day but then she dragged me to a Frontline Assembly/Ministry/Gary Numan concert and i watched her dance for hours and that did miracles for our stress levels i think

and it hits me, the comparison to how rephrasing is often a good sign that people understand something but is not a good sign that computers do gets to some points that I've made several times:

1. that these relatively simple statistical models "work" says much more about how _we_ think than if the models think

2. that we don't have a non-anthropocentric model of intelligence and thus are doomed to fail to recognize intelligences we can't interact with

there is a thing that i have ardently stopped caring about just now and quite suddenly and finally

it is not a person

but it is not something that will make you happier if i tell you i really have entirely stopped giving a shit about it

there is nothing i can do about it but this

so i leave this marker in the dirt

...but it's one of those "tiger markers" if you know what i mean so you might want to step around it anyhow

this is just a faintly more satisfying solution than doing nothing at all

and where whenever you nap you start hunting nasties on the differently-stylized astral version of the same world

eventually you of course end up with abilities like walking through walls in the real world, staring down an astral nasty trying to manifest in matter, and tfing into a slinky sabretooth panther in the astral plane, you know, completely mundane housecat stuff
