I actually read some statistics, and the odds are less <10% per year of hard drusen becoming a full-blown problem.

It's just that... well, the vision in my right eye's already a bit fucked, so it would mean major impairment... unless I caught it within, like, three days. And got injections. Rather expensive ones.

Just one more thing to fret about, one more engagement with Adult-World bureaucracy. My eyes are the same today as yesterday.

Basically, after 7 years without an eye exam, today they found these things called "drusen" (German for "geode") on my left retina, my "good" eye. They're little fatty deposits, and they come in "soft" (bad) and "hard" (less bad). The optometrist was vague, but I'm pretty sure I just have the hard ones.

They're a common warning sign that I _could_ get full-blown macular degeneration in my left eye. Nothing bad is happening yet, it's just a scary thing to think about!

Went in for a routine eye exam, and they found precursors to a retinal disorder in my left eye-- the same one that I had to get a year of painful treatments for when it hit my right eye 7-8 years ago.

Dammit, I thought I was done with this. And I'd just book with a retinologist and get it out of the way, but... I'm in the middle of changing insurance and haven't even gotten my new card yet.

Gonna be stressed and preoccupied for a while, yeah.

I love that Youtube's recommendations algorithm doesn't know what to do with all my horror-comedy links so it tends to just bundle them up under "Software - Topic." I guess Claridryl is technically software. :D

Mood is holding steady. Supplies of holiday tequila and junk food are holding steady. Got a little down this morning due to Relationship Stuff and being a bit of empathy sponge off of Peg's winter depression, but it was nothing biscuits and gravy couldn't fix. Probably gonna work today and watch She-Ra. More Dragon Fashion Hour with Peg tonight. Life isn't good, exactly, but it's cozy, and it's better than the alternative?
