Am at Seattle Meowtropolitan for the first time. For the first fifteen minutes, the cats did absolutely nothing of interest at all. It was perfect in every way, and I was already happy I came.

Then the monitor handed out treats--suddenly the room was bustling with activity and the cats were everybody's friend. I just nodded & grinned, then knowingly whispered "yup" to one of them. I haven't sought to pet or attract a single cat. It's perfect. They're perfect.

They're really my people.

Dammit, now I'm pondering what a great, balanced adventuring squad that German-compound-word family of changelings would be. I wish I either had the focus and experience to be a good GM, or a really quite incredibly customizable party-based CRPG...

(fuuuuuck i wish i had time, skill, and mental energy to turn this into a collectible card game somehow, but...)

I'm pretty sure I've linked to this encyclopedia of organ stops before, but I still think it would make a fantastic naming scheme for a CRPG, for spells or a hierarchy of summonable angels or a corps of Renaissance bardic mahō shōjo or something...

Okay, shot in the dark here, but this is probably the right crowd.

When I was a teenager, I had a book about Magic Squares. I don't remember much about it... but it had some weird genetic algorithm for "breeding" new generations of magic squares from other squares, illustrated with these crazy almost occult-looking diagrams. The math was solid, it was all just highly eccentric, including giving all the generations women's names.

That's all I remember.

Anyone seen anything like this?

This is the third time during work today that I've typed "restaurant" instead of "research."

I think it's time to order some food.

And one of the most frustrating things on my to-do list (working out some tax forms) magically disappears in a puff of bureaucracy!

Sorry about the breakdown earlier. You know how it is. It's always in the background, but not always *bad*. It comes to the surface when my shields break down.

I'm mostly okay, and don't intend to let go of anyone here, even if I move. I'm mostly just feeling skittish. I could probably use some Large Group Social Activity soon, but maybe not quite yet.
