Ethics (Long, but important)
Saw something from a friend of mine (on twitter) that made me want to really drive the point home. He was talking about ethics in tech, and ended his posts with the following:
The legacy of the Manhattan Project isn’t Oppenheimer being quoted as saying “oh man look at this sweet-ass research we did!”
And he's right. And I want to share something so that you can understand the stakes.

I responded to him with the following:
For what little it's worth, after a piece of technology I helped develop was used to call down an airstrike, I left defense forever.
That was not its intended purpose, and many other things could have been done with the technology, but that's what they chose to do.
And I have to live with that, even though I have no idea how many have died because of me.

... Anyways, that's my spiel on ethics. Don't learn the hard way. Just don't.
