aaaaaaaa. we just can't get a break
our new laptop just broke, with no apparent reason
the person at best buy says the LED blink code indicates the motherboard is dead
and apparently, installing the hard drive we bought with it voided the warranty
we got this thing a *month* ago
@Felthry peak planned obsolescence
@a_breakin_glass I don't know I'm just trying not to have a panic attack now because we have a homework assignment on that laptop that's due tomorrow
@Felthry holy shit
@a_breakin_glass i just
we can not get a break apparently
we've been pushed to the breaking point for like four months straight now and it's getting too much to bear
@Felthry oh no!
@Felthry a hard drive should be a customer replacable unit, sounds like they're bullshitting you tbh
@noiob yes i agree but i don't have the energy to worry about this right now i just want things to work and not be broken and i can't handle this anymore
can we just have one day without something going wrong
@Felthry take the hard drive back out, take it to a different best buy
@Lioness there's a tamper-evident thing on it
@Felthry *massive support hugs* Just so you know, replacing a drive cannot cause a warranty to be voided, at least in the US. Can I ask who the vendor is?
@zetasyanthis Yeah I know it legally can't
Bought it from best buy, it's an MSI brand computer
@zetasyanthis called MSi support and they said the best buy person's talking nonsense, the warranty is still valid, so there's that at least
oddly enough MSI's website does say something about installing unauthorized parts but er looks like their support's cottoned on to they can't say that lol
good to hear things are working out there for you felthry, sorry it failed :(
@Felthry just acknowledge there's little point to it
@a_breakin_glass to what?
@Felthry wading through all that bullshit ig
@a_breakin_glass well right now the point is to be able to have a place to live and a source of income
everything is just getting too much to bear
we desperately need a break
from school, from pretending to be neurotypical, from everything
