Was thinking about April showers and May flowers this morning, and of all things to come to mind, I wasn't expecting the prologue to the Canturbury Tales, in old English.
I had to memorize it in high school, complete with the original pronounciation. Even did a related project where I wrote the whole thing out in calligraphy pen and "illuminated" the margins.
What the heck, brain.
Meanwhile, yeah, that phrase/idiom about showera and flowers has been around a /long/ time.
@CoronaCoreanici @emanate I learned it with my History of English course. Also the first few lines to Beowulf. It was fascinating to see the differences in poetry, pronunciation, everything.
