Fetish discourse
I didn't check tumblr while I was on vacation and now that I'm back it seems like the Discourse has come for me.
In all seriousness though, I think I have a decent answer to this question and it's something I've discussed a lot w/ folks both cis and trans. I can never give an authoritative answer on it (since I'm cis) but I'm increasingly feeling like no one person can because we can't expect the trans community to be a monolith with 1 uniform answer
@angrboda It's a complicated topic o..o
For my own part... I didn't actually figure out that I was trans until I commissioned a particular piece of TG art and realized that I wanted to physically *be* the genderblurred henatrice in it. So, uh... the power of porn, I guess?
@Soreth yeah; I've heard similar stories enough times that it makes me a little frustrated at folks who only view fetish content as a harmful thing that shouldn't exist - it clearly has a place of at least some importance w/ quite a few folks and outright dismissing it seems exclusionary
@angrboda No question, exploring TGTF in several different ways, art and stories included, was instrumental to finally making the realization. This shit's important sometimes, it definitely can't be completely demonized and shouldn't be thrown away.
Fetish discourse
@angrboda I don't think it's possible to give a definitive answer. I think I have my answer. That's about all I can do.
