@Heffboom_Konijn Not really sure; that seems to vary per user. Certainly usage has gotten muddled. :-/
@emanate @Heffboom_Konijn I do both, depending on whether or not the contents warrant a full CW or whether they just need contextualization. Often I need to explain what frame in which a comment is being intended, without necessarily wanting to tell people "this is bad; don't look if this bothers you."
@orrery @emanate @Heffboom_Konijn I use it pretty much exactly as I used to use the cut tag back on LJ--trigger warning, long-post warning, you-might-not-be-interested-in-this-subject warning--and sometimes just to be silly, or because I want to make sure that the person reading is willing to make the minor investment of clicking a link before seeing what I wrote, rather than glancing across it randomly.
@green @orrery @emanate @Heffboom_Konijn one thing I've seen done is people actually writing out "CW: whatever" in the cw line when it actually is an especially serious business warning
@Heffboom_Konijn @green @orrery @emanate It seems entirely reasonable to me?
Bun opinion on CW use
@emanate @Heffboom_Konijn I wouldn’t say that it’s usage has gotten muddled, honestly.
If a CW helps someone not look at something that upsets them, then it is helpful. Could be long posts about a topic a person finds that causes anxiety, but is still positive (such as con experiences when one couldn’t go). Could be for more traditional reasons.
The jokes and the memes that use them are silly, but I have yet to run into any that really cross a line for me.
Bun opinion on CW use
@KoBunny @emanate @Heffboom_Konijn someone using a CW as a "this is a harmless joke thing you should click/LOL TRIGGER BAIT" trick would earn an instant unfollow, mute, and block from me. I haven't seen it done that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's common usage on instances that aren't federated with the ones I use for Very Good Reasons. :|
Bun opinion on CW use
@green @KoBunny @emanate @Heffboom_Konijn Yeah. Haven't seen this either personally, but then this instance avoids federating with the places where such a thing would be particularly likely to happen.
@emanate truthfully I dont mind and honestly it feels more right serving a dual purpose as one can leave a CW, Subject or both. I feel like this would be a great idea to sift through what one would like to see or not ^^
