Steven Universe Finale (cw: spoilers, personal, past transphobia) [1/3]
Finally saw it last night.
So Steven Universe is a trans man. …makes perfect sense.
The final episode triggered me; I was a sobbing wreck for like an hour, but I think it was a cathartic kind of thing. It just put me back in my teenage mind when my parents were trying to disown me and I ended up homeless for a while 'cause none of my friends could or would take me in.
Steven Universe Finale (cw: spoilers, personal, past transphobia) [2/3]
In context from the last ep, the previous two episodes became so obvious: deadnaming, performing in the role your parent figures expect of you… maybe even being good enough at it to make them happy, which would feel good if it didn't feel so **WRONG** inside?
That crippling feeling of powerlessness when trying to battle against authoritative family members was so perfectly illustrated by the height differences...

@mawr I don't think it's technically over, is it? I thought there was at least a movie planned? (Haven't seen the S5 finale yet, but as far as I'm concerned, they're not ALLOWED to end it until Centipeetle/Nephrite is verifiably healthy and happy. ^__^ )
You're still right, though, I already know the basics of the finale and they could have ended it right there and been thematically _perfect_. But... but... CENTIPEETLE! n_______n

@zebratron2084 SU is a (heh) flawless sparkling diamond in the ocean of shit produced by the past 3 years. It gives me hope for a brighter future. ❤️

A mild spoiler: Centipeedle does, in fact, get healed. :-)

@mawr Also... *hug* Yeah. I haven't had 1% the trauma my friends have, but... even just getting a kid like Steven on TV as a five-season protagonist is a MAJOR act of heroism on Rebecca's part and makes this world feel a hell of a lot less ruthless.
