@Leucrotta Good lord, are they made out of pebbles and soot?! D:
@Leucrotta Eh, I'd probably eat 'em if I were depressed or hungry enough, but yeah, those sure look like 2–2.5-star Dunkin's-level donuts to me.
Dammit, now I wanna go out to the fancy-ass 5-star donut place down here in NOLA, but it's all the way across town. It's basically our Voodoo/Psycho Donuts except they don't share their weird delusion that cereal is a gourmet ingredient. :p
@zebratron2084 the best doughnuts here so far have been at Larsen’s in Ballard, most notably that they do cherry fritters, though honestly everything they do is pretty good. I’m kinda unimpressed by Top Pot, they’re usually nicer than these; I have yet to try Ninth & Hennepin or my parents’ favorite, Family Doughnuts by Northgate.
@Leucrotta Ooh, 9th and Hennepin is real good. Is Rodeo Donuts still around? I also liked General Porpoise in Cap Hill, though their hours are bizarre and they only have interesting gourmet-type varieties once in a while.
@zebratron2084 lessee; Rodeo apparently got subsumed to Cupcake Royale, which I haven’t been to; I wanted to visit General Porpoise but they were closed when I visited Pioneer Square last.
@zebratron2084 Psycho was... trying too hard. I liked them, and they were a great treat when I’d visit Campbell at the end of 2018 when my life was terrible, but Voodoo is more honest about doughnuts being kinda innately crap, y’know? I like them a lot more.
@mmsword @Leucrotta Yeah. Honestly, I like a certain novelty in my gourmet donuts, but they've gotta be able to 5-star the basics, too, and I never felt like Frost could really do that.
It's kinda like how they recommend you test out a new sushi bar by ordering good ol' tamago and tekka-maki. 'Cause if they can't do that, they certainly won't be able to pull off their Specialty Gourmet Habanero Camembert Jackfruit Balut and Tempura Skittles Roll. :p
Psycho Donuts make me wish that I were high, so I could enjoy them.
@zebratron2084 just something really hits all the completely unappealing buttons here. I think the camera dulls how shiny the glaze is.
