It's odd that when going "Why Masto is weird" people always gravitate towards the instance setup and not the local and federated timelines.

Because "Twitter but you read *everyone's* tweets" sounds .. horrible, so you'd expect people to focus on that. But it's barely mentioned.

@SlyCat Looking at home feed? I only see you following two people, so that would do it. Local or federated timelines should definitely have more activity than that.

@Phorm Security wise the main masto problems are you have to trust your instance admin / mods, and secondly you have to trust federated instances because they can de-private posts. Neither is insurmountable.

@greywhite You can join them all if you don't have anything else to do :)

Each instance will have different rules, and some don't talk to all the others (awoo.space uses a whitelist of instances it connects to, others connect t by default).

Some instances use older or weird software and may not respect content warning tags or post privacy.

Took a day off because I needed it. 9:40 and it's already ruined because no one fucking listens or remembers and I snapped at them. So instead sitting in bed crying.
