Random D&D thought of the evening: magical ancestral weapon. Except the spell was a botch so all it does is make you forget what it looks like. Makes training somewhat difficult..

The first bit there should have the video. Something about the clouds in hurricane eyes is incredibly disturbing to me, especially in motion like that. They set off "this is Wrong" alarm bells in the way no other weather does. Even the blood red sun this morning.
RPG game musing (Dresden)
@Doephin ...it's probably not the best sign for the PCs that I have Hellfire from the Hunchback of Notra Dame (Disney version) stuck in my head.

I'm GMimg a Dresden Files RPG game. I get a fair amount of inspiration here from music, to the point of having a character or plot point inspired by songs (cf Vix and Tony's Thirteen, about counting magpies to a very odd result)
And this morning? Ash rains from the sky. Fun.
Smoke is back in Seattle again. The sky is starless and the full moon is a faint blood red instead of bright white. really creepy.
Anyone have a recommendation for a artist who is open for a quick turnaround pose reference sketch?

@Doephin I did. The camera fell over early but you can still see the sky dimming and hear the crowd (and us) reacting. It's amazing. Most of my totality pictures didn't turn out because I was too frantic but there is one decent one. Doesn't capture the moment well but it's still good.
Stopped for food. We took a lot of pictures and a video- I'll post later. The video was just the phone propped up so I'm not sure what it caught... hoping it caught the crowd noise at least.

The thing that's blowing my mind about the eclipse is just... Okay. You've probably seen an eclipse portrayed in some media and how it's all super-dramatic but looks kinda fakey? Yeah, no, that's how it looks and feels. The most realistic version of all that.
It looks exactly how you'd expect... in a way you can't even imagine.

Look, I may be a pretty decent wordsmith, but I know when I'm beat.
There in the heavens was a perfect ring of glittering silver light. Suspended there, hanging in eternity burning argent and white and incarnadine. The horizons all shone twilight and it was barely noticeable next to the Majesty above. The glory, the miracle, the ephemeral eternal fire.
It was a gateway to the other side of the sky. I can't put words to that and convey anything meaningful.
