@packbat Either mid 2010s or a few weeks ago, depending on whether "used it for actual chat" matters. ALttP randomized co-op uses an IRC server to communicate among players. :)
The l3regex package (integrated into expl3, I know) gives me InDesign's "GREP styles" functionality for LaTeX!
...or it would if I could everything to stop erroring out on not finding l3regex.sty. What the heck? I know expl3 is installed....

Return of the Custom Symbol Font Troubles.
Remember how LibreOffice was mutating OpenType CFF glyphs on export to PDF? And how saving the font as TTF reduced the precision to where the details became a wibbly mess?
When LaTeX builds a PDF, it reduces the precision of the CFF font to about the level of the TTF.
I give up! I'll use SVG files!

Today's visually startling LibreOffice bug.
On the left, we have a logo from a OpenType font – using PostScript outlines for accuracy – as it appears in LibreOffice.
On the right, we have the results of an export to PDF. And yes, it's still selectable as if it were plain text, and Acrobat insists the font is embedded with Postscript outlines, so... what the heck?

US student debt relief, soft launch
The US federal government has its form for applying for student loan relief up. It's officially marked as a beta launch, ahead of the form's official launch, but the banner promises that 'if you submit an application, it will be processed, and you won't need to resubmit'.

The form is a model of clarity. You need your Law Papers Name, Social Security Number, birth date, phone number and e-mail address.

LibreOffice Writer has decided that it's totally legit to have the same page style produce different footer margins between left and right pages. No matter what I do, with no actual option to change it.
