video game controller opinions
i think
for games that make heavy use of the dpad, and especially games originally on the snes, the 8bitdo SN30 pro+ might just be the best controller on the market
the added grips, replaceable battery, and analog shoulder buttons really improved it over the SN30 pro
but for games that use mostly the left analog stick, secondarily the right analog stick, and don't need much in the way of d-pad controls, the gamecube controller is still superior

@Felthry you're really gonna ignore that the Dualshock has always been superior for both?

@noiob Honestly the dualshock has never felt great to us
the analog sticks feel too loose, and the d-pad is just not as good as that of the 8bitdo and the SNES controller it's based on
still miles better than the 360 or gamecube dpads though.

@noiob as for the dpad thing, no accounting for taste, right? We prefer Nintendo's NES/SNES/N64 dpad design, but can see why you'd prefer the sony one.
I will say the PS Vita has a fantastic dpad though
those little tact switches are perfect for handhelds, and the dpad itself just feels nice and solid

@Felthry yeah, I know. I heard there's ways to make Dualshock 3s work over generic Bluetooth adapters but those are in short supply too, the only one I have might be fake 😄
re: serious response to joke comment re: video game controller opinions, jokingly adversarial
@noiob apparently there's an official sony bluetooth adapter to let you use a dualshock 4 with a computer
re: serious response to joke comment re: video game controller opinions, jokingly adversarial
@noiob oh but that adapter goes for $80 never mind
re: serious response to joke comment re: video game controller opinions, jokingly adversarial
@Felthry the Dualshock 4 works with any cheap Bluetooth adapter
I'm a big fan of the PSP Go's D-Pad too, it doesn't have much travel but it still feels nice
re: serious response to joke comment re: video game controller opinions, jokingly adversarial
@noiob yeah, the vita dpad has very little travel too, which i think is ideal for a portable device.
re: serious response to joke comment re: video game controller opinions, jokingly adversarial
@noiob also we mostly play ps2 and it's not exactly possible to get a new dualshock 2 anymore, at least not for an amount anyone would describe as anything approaching reasonable
