If you take all the fruits that people don't generally put in a fruit salad, and make a fruit salad out of them, you get either salsa, guacamole, or some weird jumble of squash cubes
@windyorigami make it a paste, add some oil and seasoning, and you could probably make a half-decent squash-based pseudo-hummus
@Felthry or just a salad
@noiob feels a bit weird to call it a regular salad without lettuce or spinach or some kind of leafy green, but I suppose you could do a cucumber-based salad!
@Felthry you don't need greens in a salad though? there's potato salad, or tomato salad
@Felthry tomatoes and mixed bell peppers are basically a salad already
@noiob oh, true! i think we tend to think of potato salad as a different thing from regular salad
same goes for pasta salad. don't think we've heard of tomato salad? is that just tomato-based but with all the regular salad stuff on it?
food
@Felthry afaik tomato salad is usually tomatoes with vinegar-based sauce or sth, but you can add a lot of things
there's also Caprese salad (tomatoes, mozarella, balsamico, olive oil)
re: food
@noiob Yeah, I guess either of those would count as fruit-based salads that aren't fruit salad!
Caprese salad has me thinking about a mediterranean version of salsa, with tomatoes and then olives and garlic and stuff instead of onion and chilis
food re: fruit salad
@Felthry ...I guess drizzle olive oil over the squash cubes and roast them?

@Felthry Or...a bowl of sliced Durian :P
@Felthry the third chip condiment, gourd-cubes (or paste)
