which is the better odd one out?
@Felthry I don't get it, both of those are even!
@Felthry I just picked Mario because i like Mario better than Zelda in general to be honest
@Siph to be fair zelda 2 is way more disliked than mario 2
we think it's good, but a lot of people just hate how different it is
-F
@Felthry I think Zelda 2 is really cool and unique if not a bit too hard but that's just games from this era
@Felthry is Zelda 2 really that atypical? like, the mario one is literally a different game reskinned, Zelda 2 is just trying to innovate on the first game
@noiob innovate on the first game? it seems way more like a complete and total reimagining in the style of castlevania, honestly
-F
@noiob like if you compare zelda 2 to the original and link to the past and link's awakening and all the other 2d zeldas
zelda 2 is drastically different
-F
@Felthry maybe but at the time there was only one other Zelda game
if they made one now it'd be odd
@noiob i'd say that mario 2 is a lot more similar to mario 1 than zelda 2 is to zelda 1
-F
@Felthry I say Zelda 2 because while Super Mario USA/Super Mario 2 was indeed a bit of an oddball game, its style was still quite distinctly Mario with characters and characteristics that carried over into many other games. Zelda 2 on the other hand... There really isn't much that stayed with the series, and while it's definitely not CD-i levels of oddball, it still stands apart from the mainline series of games.
@Kilroy honestly i was going more for "which of these games (which are both odd ones out in their series) is better" than "which is more unlike the rest of its series"!
-F
@Felthry Oh! My mistake! Unfortunately I would have to go with SMB2 then as a personal preference, but I did still have quite a bit of fun with Z2
it's unanimous so far and i have to say i disagree really strongly
