as someones who don't like horror games and have an anxiety disorder, horror games/movies are a weird concept to us

like, "oh yes i'd like to be extremely stressed for a few hours, please make the experience as stressful as possible"

i get that some people like that! i don't get why and i doubt i'll ever understand because we get stressed enough with everyday life to need fairly hefty anxiety medication

I think it kind of falls into that space of media where... it's an excellent way to "practice" states of mind that would be dangerous in another context, but in this one you have the option to just get off the ride at any time. It's why we enjoy the few stressy horror games that we do, we know we've only gotta press one button and we're safe. And also why we can't ride roller coasters, there's no off button.
