Begpost, please boost
If you're feeling generous, money has been tight since I left my abusive workplace. I’m preparing to move out at the end of May, so anything you can give to help me make that process easier I would be extremely thankful for, because I’m going to need help getting my stuff out, and gas alone is nightmarishly expensive. Additionally I have medical bills and car repair costs I could really use help paying off. 💜
Thank you again, any amount is so so so so appreciated <3

@derFisch Latis are very good, and you don't see htem very often!

maybe it's that they're complex enough to be interesting, but simple enough that you can fully understand the workings of one
boost converters are especially nice, but i also like flyback converters and have recently been warming up to the rare negative-in/negative-out buck converter (which no one actually makes controllers for so you have to trick a flyback controller into doing it)

@bj that's a lot of sprites!

re: modern tech grumbles
@trysdyn @monsterblue we like having all the extra buttons, and that requires the drivers unfortunately
fortunately this one (G604) can be set so that all the settings stuff is handled by the mouse and the software doesn't need to do anything (which we were glad to figure out because the software *loves* to do popup notifications about what the mouse's current DPI setting is whenever you start moving the mouse after a minute or so of not moving it, but when the settings are all on the mouse it doesn't do any of that)

re: modern tech grumbles
@monsterblue (also they put some Questionable features in them sometimes. has anyone *ever* needed a mouse that reports data to the computer at 1 kHz? why would you want that?)

re: modern tech grumbles
@monsterblue they're not the cheapest and their software has been kind of bad lately but the hardware's solid
also good for CAD work, lots of buttons
they market them as "gaming mice" but we don't play the right kinds of games

re: modern tech grumbles
@monsterblue we have been unable to use any brand of mouse other than logitech really, because no one else does the scroll wheel with a clutch that's actually really nice

re: modern tech grumbles
@monsterblue we know them as a RAM company
why are they making mice now

this youtube downloader frontend we've been using lately (to accumulate c64 music) has a really neat feature we've never seen in anything else
its URL entry isn't a textbox, it's a button and clicking on it just pastes whatever's in the clipboard over whatever's currently in it
which is i think good design? because you're never going to be manually typing in the video url, it saves you a ctrl-v, and saves having to select whatever's in the box to overwrite it if you're doing multiple things
