i don't remember what eggplant tastes like so i can't speak to whether that's very bitter or not, i just remember we don't like it

@Draekos it might be worth noting that only the darker dark chocolates have a significant bitterness to their taste, milk chocolate masks the bitterness of cocoa with lots of sugar

@Draekos it's one of the four* basic tastes so it's a little difficult to describe. it's usually an unpleasant taste but can improve things when combined with other stuff by making them less of a one-note flavor. many things in nature that are strongly bitter are toxic

if your anosmia just dulls tastes instead of eliminating them entirely, you can probably still experience bitterness by tasting denatonium benzoate, a synthetic compound specifically designed to be as bitter as possible (but still entirely nontoxic) to discourage people and animals from eating things. nintendo switch cartridges are coated in the stuff, hence the trend of people licking them when the system came out

why do snes roms generally use the file extension .smc

most of the time it's something more obvious like .nes for nes or .gb for gameboy, so why isn't it .sfc? i get why it wouldn't be .snes, because the early days of snes emulators there would still be lots of systems out there that didn't like more than three characters in file extensions but .sfc fits fine
