@Ficus They're always nice to see, and if you enjoy drawing yourselves I say go for it!
-F

@Ficus They're very good, but feel more like full art pieces than just promos!
-F

the Hearth :ms_agender_flag: boosted

I think "Have you thought about why you want that" would a very useful and illuminating question to be able to ask basically anyone about anything

@JulieSqveakaroo Pneumonia still sucks. I hope they feel better soon.
-F

@socks The voice acting in that game really does stick in your mind, doesn't it?
-F

@keliff hey, good news! we've been in a much better mental state ever since we moved to a 4-day work week, so i hope it helps you out too
-F

@patchwork i bet we could *make* a repro if we really wanted. couldn't do the case without sacrificing another game but we could do the PCB, pretty sure it's just one ROM chip we could program an EEPROM for
-F

@patchwork really? we thought night driver was just the game where you're driving on an empty road at night

re: lewd, less silly

@starkatt @patchwork you could presumably put the reservoir for one of those in a bath of water with a sous vide machine to keep the temperature constant too, since sang mentioned that earlier. at least if there are sous vide machines that go to low enough temperatures
-F

actually, thinking about that 2600, i'm curious: what games on it should we keep an eye out for if we visit a used game store or something? Just curious if there are any that are particularly good (not concerned with collectibility)

We were surprised by how good Phoenix and Defender were

Show thread

@xenon like I said earlier, it only really caught on in southeast asia. it's probably known in nearby places that do a lot of trade with SEA too, like australia, south asia, and east asia. i expect they may also have some market penetration in other tropical climates like south america and parts of africa, though?I don't know
-F

@xenon VCD didn't really catch on because it was the same quality as a VHS but you needed new equipment to play them
-F

@xenon video CDs are almost unheard of in Western markets, but everyone knows what a dvd is, perhaps?
-F

@xenon pretty sure DVDs need the laser focused differently, the depth of the data pressed into the disc is different than a CD
-F

@xenon It may actually be a video cd then? if it's reading fine as a video cd it's definitely not a dvd
-F

@xenon There is also DVD audio, though i'm not sure how many things work for that
