@ziphi Trains are notoriously bad at going up hills, to the point that train tracks, to our knowledge, aren't allowed to have more than a 3° incline to them

@patchwork if we're not working under budget constraints, we like to use LT parts because they have *such* good documentation, and almost all of their parts have simulation models
-F

@patchwork oh we very much prefer the former, and we've been doing this for nearly a decade. hate having to work with the latter
-F

@patchwork are you a "well written datasheets with lots of detail" kind of person, or a "datasheets 3/4 in a language you don't understand, without even a theory of operation section" kind of person?

re: right-wing conspiracy theory, alcohol, three simple words that strike fear into real meat-drinking Americans

@rey well i guess beer that can't include any fungus wouldn't be very good, but yeast tends to be excepted from the label "plant-based"

@rey ....what?

this is particularly striking when you realize that almost all numbers are normal (a fact which can and has been proven)

that is, if you were to choose a number at random from a number line, the probability that it would be a normal number is 1

fun fact: it's remarkably hard to prove that a number is normal

it's strongly suspected that a lot of constants like e and π are normal but this has not been proven

in fact, the only numbers known to be normal are the numbers explicitly constructed to be normal

if there are toadstools, are there also frogstools

random thought: can you substitute tums for sidewalk chalk

@heatherhorns the Ganondorf battle music from ocarina of time, because it's good at getting our attention

re: crypto +

@trysdyn well then it sounds like crypto is now:
- still a scam (let's just get that out of the way)
- less terrible for the environment

-F

re: crypto +

@trysdyn excellent. i don't know what "proof of stake" means but if it makes the crypto people mad and makes gpus cheap i'm all for it
-F

re: crypto +

@trysdyn oh does this mean gpus are going to become affordable again?
-F

@Kaffe@chitter.xyz wow, they *are* hard to find. i looked around a bit and was able to find this amazon.com/gp/product/B076GZVC but it's still more expensive than it's probably worth
-F

this feels Weird to us because we know they had pasta, apparently they just called it noodles
