@BeanedCatte@chitter.xyz could you explain what that is, exactly, for someone who's never used twitter?
-F

@Nerts is that an artifact? yeah 9k is about right
-F

@fluxom_alt kick that plague out of you, you didn't give it permission to be in you
-F

@hi_cial yeah a couple admins of other instances apparently did a double-take and thought they were going to have to give noiob a Talk
-F

@lizardsquid much of the order, bar some letters that were introduced later or moved around for some reason, goes all the way back to phoenecian! i don't think we know why the phoenecian alphabet was in that order, it may have been arbitrary
-F

@hi_cial yeah there's an instance called awoo.fyi that's part of that big "federation of instances" thing the qoto guy started
-F

@hi_cial looks like that was it but ugh, it has that fake awoo instance on it
-F

what was that thing of furry fedi instances? got someone interested in joining who doesn't really understand the whole thing and we're not sure what's open for registrations right now
-F/R

@Elttob@tech.lgbt i suppose we have trouble because we're in a pretty unusual situation

this is the first and still only social media we've ever used, so it's the one that Makes Sense to us. everything we hear about twitter, even before Current Stuff, has always elicited a "why do they *do* that" response
-F

@Elttob@tech.lgbt (since it looks like you're new here and might not know: eugen is the guy in charge of the official mastodon repo and the mastodon.social instance. he's. very uh. he has a specific vision that conflicts with what the majority of users want and tends to just straight up say "nope we're not doing that" to highly-rated feature requests)
-F

@Elttob@tech.lgbt one of the problems is that eugen really wants there to be a singular "mastodon"

we have to keep telling people not to sign up on mastodon.social because like half the fediverse has it blocked or muted
-F

@Elttob@tech.lgbt completely unrelated aside: it feels very weird to hear people referring to it as a product, honestly

like, this corner of fedi has, for as long as we've been here, been diametrically opposed to that consumerist way of thinking. it's not a product to be sold, it's a project to make communities around and work together on improving
-F

@Elttob@tech.lgbt ii dunno we're just having difficulty wrapping our head around what the problem is here i think

i'm going to chalk it up to just, one of those things where other people's brains work very differently
-F

@Elttob@tech.lgbt yeah it does that, as a hack to make following someone from their remote profile work (since the remote website doesn't know what your server is)

it's kind of annoying

but also it's.... confusing to us that you would need that? i dunno i guess people use stuff in very different ways but i don't think about "going on mastodon", i think about "going on awoo"
-F

@Nerts there's a major exploit around coins actually

you make 50 coins out of a bar of metal, but it only takes 10 coins to melt them back down into a bar
-F

@Roxy it took us way too long to realize you were talking about the program f.lux and not, like, rosin flux
-F

@LexYeen @owashii@plush.city @PsyChuan we haven't played them but our understanding is that the witcher series is in the same realm as morrowind, where the game is great despite its gameplay not because of it
-F

@tabitha@chitter.xyz I think Rosemary is starting to come out of trying to be who zhe thinks zhe should be, rather than who zhe is, too
-F

@trysdyn fuck, get that stuff off this websites

if you want a poll do a poll, don't do a "boost if x, fave if y" thing
